Custom domains
Attach a client's domain when the site is ready, with a DNS check for every hostname and one free certificate.
Custom domains, step by step
-
1
Attach the domain
Open Attach domain on the site. Pick www or the bare domain as canonical, and add any aliases.
-
2
Check DNS for each host
The panel shows where each hostname points today. With Cloudflare connected, tick Point DNS for me and it writes the records.
-
3
Confirm and attach
Type the domain to confirm. One certificate covers every hostname and stored addresses are rewritten. The site restarts once.
-
4
Manage hostnames later
Add or remove aliases, check DNS again, or hide the site from search engines. Certificates renew on their own.
Questions about custom domains
No. Every environment answers on its own platform address from the start, so you can test there first. The certificate is issued once DNS points at your cluster. The DNS check shows what each hostname points at today.
Yes. Attach any hostname you control to a staging or development environment. Those environments are always hidden from search engines, and their HTTP authentication still applies on the new hostname.
Change primary URL moves the site in three steps. A dry run counts the addresses stored in the database before anything changes. Afterwards the old addresses redirect to the new primary.
